A long way from anywhere, Mt Olympus ski field New Zealand is a bit of a mystery even to most New Zealanders. It’s no mystery to us however – we know how amazing this place can be and that’s why we keep going back. Mt Olympus is famous for two things – awesome snow, and the gnarliest access road in the area! Facing south, Mt Olympus gets more cold light powder than many of the other fields and is sheltered from the legendary Nor-west wind that can rip through the Canterbury region. The terrain is varied enough to satisfy all tastes and skill levels. From steep narrow chutes and rock drops right through to gentle open bowls for cruising. Not to mention outrageous natural features begging to be hit!
The rope tows here are some of the best around. Easy loading and good layout ensure more laps than most people’s legs can handle. These’s also ample back country terrain to hike if your legs are really tough! Friendly locals, helpful staff and a new sunny comfortable day lodge add to the sweetness. Ask anyone who’s been, this is a special place.
