The Black Diamond Quadrant Ski Boot was suppose to be a sacrifice from my heavier downhill boots to allow easier uphill travel with the super light 1.72kg weight, but such as the case with the Zealots this boot quickly became my everyday boot and opened up more skiing variety to me.
The Quadrant features a thick liner enabling most feet to fit the wide shell and perfect warmth for the NZ winter (not too hot) with a nylon Boa tightening system to ensure a snug fit.
The shell however is the real payload for this boot. The bottom buckle has been reversed for longer durability and less damage when climbing. The top two buckles have a lock out function that works in with walk mode to allow 40 degrees touring motion.
The toe and heal of the boot have the Dynafit option which seems a no-brainer if you need a lightweight set up. The sole of the boot is great, some may see a floor in not having adjustable toe and heal blocks like other Black Diamond boots but for me this enables a “wriggle free” boot that will stay solid until the death.
